Chatsworth - The Gateway to Los Angeles
I remember the first time I walked into the Chatsworth real estate office where I have worked for the last 27 years. It felt like “home.” Now I also call the city of Chatsworth “home,” as well, having purchased in the Colony West area in 2000. Celebrities have also called Chatsworth “home,” too. To escape from the demands of Hollywood, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, bought a home here when their children were young. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans built a rambling ranch style home that they kept adding on to as they adopted more children. Kevin Spacey attended Chatsworth High School as did Val Kilmer, whose father also developed two of the area’s premier gated communities—Indian Springs and Indian Falls. The Los Angeles Times described The Springs and The Falls as “The Bel Air of the Valley.”
Current entertainers who make their abode here include Smokey Robinson, Cedric the Entertainer, Brian McKnight, Tisha Campbell, Sinbad, and basketball great, Paul George. The studios love to shoot film and television in our community, too. It’s not uncommon to see film crews in our neighborhoods as certain areas can double for East Coast cities. Other Mid-Century moderns can double for Palm Springs and even The Hangover shot Mike Tyson’s scene in an area mansion. If you’re a location scout, call me because I know many homeowners who’d like to rent you their house for your shoot.
Businesses like Regency Lighting have recently bought a warehouse/office building and moved their large company to our area. And Chatsworth is rich in history. We even have our own museum located in Chatsworth Park at the end of Devonshire. I found it interesting that the first settlers here had the last name of Johnson. Hmmm, I wonder if we’re related??? Do you think that’s why I love Chatsworth so much? Horse lovers surely like living here, as do mountain climbers who test their skills at Rocky Peak. Give me a call and I’ll tell you more about why I love my community.
